ABOUT WALKAMIN
Walkamin is a small village on the Kennedy Highway halfway between Atherton and Mareeba. Established as a base for workers in the 1950’s, during the construction of the Mareeba Dimbulah Irrigation Scheme. The area is good agricultural land with a wide variety of crops and orchards in the area. The climate is regarded as the one of the most liveable in the world.
The town has its own primary school, corner store and post office. The Primary Industries Research Station is based opposite the town.
